Day 20 has been a highlight on our trip. We cruised up the first 2 gorges of the Katherine Gorge system and then took a helicopter flight over the first 8, landing on the escarpment above the 8th gorge and taking a walk around the escarpment to take in the amazing views on all sides. No driving for Elle or me today. RM went into Katherine. We girls stayed at the campsite and did chores. We chatted with a local here whose dog had escaped from a crocodile! Another one did not. So no swimming in the Katherine River, flowing close by us here. Elle and I walked down by the river but kept a good lookout. Elle was allowed to wet her feet and then we retreated up the bank to the track. Lots of reading today. Somnambulant weather!

Short drive up to Katherine. Signage lacking for the Victoria Highway had us heading on to Darwin. Thank goodness for the blue bobbing symbol on Google maps on the Ipad. We had a very entertaining night last night at the Daly Waters Pub. A delicious barramundi and steak dinner plus the aforementioned entertainer, Chilli turned out to be a cracker. Another pleasant drive along the Carpentaria Highway down to Daly Waters, where we have stopped at the famous Daly Waters Pub. Parked alongside Richard and Barb and Sienna again.
