hey everyone. hows it going? all is good here. it's hot and we have become very well aquainted with the heladería shop across the road, they seem to be open until about 3am which is very very useful. i think i may just splurge and say everything that has been going on, we havent started work yet, we are still just tourists who people laugh at because we speak like the spanish royal family. gradually we are losing our lisps and turning to true castellano (with a j). i am living with one other english girl and two americans and an argentine woman who is so so nice. she has two dogs and one is on heat at the moment so the other is running around like crazy. we went to a tango show the other night which was incredible and they gave us a history of the wine of mendoza and its associations with tango, also how it began in mendoza with sexuallyfrustrated men who danced with each other in the absence of women ha! que más? it is very european here, which is nice but at times makes me desperate to get out into the mountains to see where i really am as often it feels like southern spain,. however the cars here are a real give away. it's almost as if every car from the 1040s, 50s and 60s in america has ended up here! its amazing, the most incredible crazy old chevrolets and cadillacs are evry normal here.
i have been getting very excited running into argentine book shops looking at isabel allende novels and thinking ojalá for when i can read and understand them. also, mainly directed to the family but i saw what on earth happened, or should i say 'todo sobre nuestro mundo' on the shelf in one so if you want to tell chrris that may amuse him, i also took a picture. they were not lying, the steak is incredible here and so cheap, we are tryign not to reat out too much though.
hmmm i dont know what else to say, ah yes, yesterday i found a jelly maker in the shape of jesus' head in a market. this made me very happy hahah. anyway chicos, off i trot. il keep you updated on anything devilishly exicting which happens. at the moment we are still just chilling about so not much to report.
besos xxx

Matt Lee Hey, sounds like ur having a good time, and have settled in well! :) I've just got back from Spain - and yeah I think i will get laughed at too in south america when I talk - I've picked up the Andalucian accent, so they probably wont even understand! Keep up the blogging - was a good read! i'm off on the 1st of march so will be doing the same - and hopefully might see you in Argentina in a few months, definitely want to get there at some point! Have fun, and good luck with the work xx
Abi Booth It broke my heart not being able to send you a last good bye before you left the country but me being me had obviously run out of credit and money in bank so sorry sorry sorry!! Was thinking of you on your plane though. Have had long conversation with Diego my Columbian friend about South America and the wonders of the Tango and Salsa. He tells me you cannot go to Argentina and not Tango ... apparently it is instilled in the natives from birth. He is a Salsa man coming from Columbia but I am expecting you to be fluent in the language of passionate dance by the time you get back haha!! Then you can teach me :) Keep up the blogging of latino happenings. I want to know all!! xxx
wissy Hi Jess, sounds as if you are already making yourself at home! Hope you get to start work really soon - wish it was a bit warmer here! xxxxxxxxxx
Emma omygosh jess it sounds so exciting!! And *obviously* when you return I'm expecting religious jelly. Keep us posted, I will be avidly reading until Feb 22nd when I will depart SANS INTERNET :-(. By me a sombrero (spelling?!) - that was a joke, please don't try and pack a sombrero.
