So, I got to spend the last week in Hartford, WI.... which was oh so close to home, and that made it all oh so wonderful. We performed at the Schauer Center, which is a gorgeous space. I had been there before to watch two of my kids, Richard and Gracie (and no, they aren't actually my kids, more like adopted siblings :) ) perform in the Music Man last summer.
Speaking of, the Becker family had us over for a wonderful dinner at their house on Tuesday night. We had a marvelous time playing with Grace, Richard and Claire, playing on the zip line, eating wonderful food, and just having some good all around fun. I went a little early to spend a little time with my family before everyone else got there. I miss them so much. They always make me feel so at home. I love them all so much and miss them dearly. I wish I could be at Disney with them right now... alas, I have a show to do, which is really ok. They also all came to see the show on Saturday night. It meant so much to me to actually have them there. None of them have actually ever seen me perform. I mean, Jerry and I did Into the Woods together when I was in 8th grade, but that was before Grace was even born, and well, I'd like to think I've grown a bit in my craft since then.
Additionally, my mom also had everyone over for a fantastic night of cheese fondue. It was fantastic. And oh, how I miss some good German home cooking. You never really realize how wonderful it is to have a home cooked meal until you are with out it for a good period of time. I mean, we have been lucky on this tour, since we will often have little kitchenettes in our rooms, however, I get no joy out of cooking for myself, so often simply resort to lean cuisines, or sandwiches, or, of course, eating out. And don't get me wrong, I've gotten the opportunity to eat at some wonderful restaurants... and those meals just don't have the love in them. It was wonderful to be home for a bit. Other than the night of the big dinner, i also spent Monday night, Tuesday and Sunday night at home. Gotta love being at home with mom. As much as I love being on the road with this wonderful company, I also get a great a mount of joy from being at home. As they say, there really is no place like home :)
So yeah, Hartford was wonderful. We had fantastic audiences at every show, and I even got to see Kevin (my best friend from HS who I haven't seen in way too long...) Paul, Gladys (who I hadn't seen in 10 years... no exaggeration) and Jordan and his parents. It was a perfect week. Curt also came by for a few days to check up on the show, and it was great to see him again :) Katie flew to NYC on Sunday morning for some final call backs, so Emily jumped in and did an absolute fantastic job. It was definitely different having another mom. But she did a fantastic job, and we had fun together on stage, so that is always good :)
Alright, well, that's Hartford for ya. Tune in next week to hear about Van Wert and Dearborn!
