Wow, what a week it has been. There is sooo much to talk about!
So Madison was wonderful. I had a ton of fun, ate great food (of course), got to see people that I love dearly... sigh. I wish i could have stayed another week. Anyways, I figure it will be easiest to just almost bullet this entry... it will be the easiest way for me to get everything said :)
1. The Capital Theater in the Overture Center. What a beautiful space. It has a very nice old traditional feel to it, with an interesting color scheme of Turquoise and the like. It was wonderful. Although we didn't sell as well as we hoped, we had some of our greatest audiences here. They toured with CBL through here just a year ago and the were there for like 3 weeks, every performance of which was completely sold out... so I feel like that may have had something to do with it.There was also a wonderful little restaurant on the top floor that Maggie and I went to called Fresco. I had some of the best hummus I've ever tasted that evening and also a wonderful Blueberry thyme cocktail. It is a very snazzy little place.
2. The Botanical Gardens. They were beautiful. I wish we could have gone earlier in the summer as several flowers had already passed their blooming point, but there were still plenty of gorgeous plants and flowers in full bloom. I took some time to myself here and just enjoyed the air, the sights, the sounds... it was a beautiful relaxing 1.5 hours :)
3. Fromagination. A high end cheese shop in Capital Square. It was a wonderful little shop with a couple of samples out. They also had a basket of mini cheese wedges that were left overs. I bought 2 different kinds... both of which were normally around $32 a lb. And I got just enough for a taste for a mere $2. OH MY GOD!!! Probably the best cheese I've ever tasted. They were both hard sharp cheeses. If you are ever in Madison, I highly suggest you visit this little shop.
4. Mikey's Shopping Spree. Yes, Mikey has a new wardrobe. He wrecked his only pair of jeans that fit, and then asked me to help him get some new jeans, some nice shirts etc. We went to 2 stores and got him 2 pairs of Jeans, shorts, about 12 v/crew-neck t-shirts, a sweater, 3 button ups and 3 polos for $200. yes it was a successful day of shopping, and he looks great :) No longer do i see him in sweatpants and over-sized t-shirts :) What is even greater is that he is excited about his new cloths and feels good and happy about the new him :)
5. Himal Chuli. A restaurant that serves authentic Nepali cuisine. This may be my new favorite cuisine. It reminds me a lot of Indian food, but lighter, fresher and not as spicy... but extremely flavorful. I actually ended up eating here twice, once with Mikey and once with Maggie. I was very satisfied both times. I highly suggest getting Momosha (i think thats what it was called). Little Steamed vegetarian dumplings served with a very refreshing tomato sauce. YUM!
6. I also got to see some wonderful people while here. Nathan, who I met while in Chicago and also knows Katie and Karen, came all the way from Chicago to see the show. Pat Moshea also came to see it. I have not seen her for several years, and it was wonderful seeing her smiling face again. She cast me in my first show in Milwaukee the summer before 8th grade...wow... that was a while ago :) And then my best friend from high school, Maggie Nordskog, also came. She is currently a nurse at the UWMadison hospital, and she told me she made sure to ask off of work when tickets first came on sale! It was sooo wonderful to see her. We've played phone tag for so long and it was wonderful to catch up with her.
Well, those are some of the highlights. We also saw Emily's nephews band play and got to do a little dancing there which was a lot of fun. Went to the Odd Wisconsin Museum, which was very fun and interesting and I played tourist and checked out the capital of course :) It was a great week. I'd write more, but I gotta get back to the theater. We are in Green Bay now, and having a good time. I'll give you details on taht soon :)
