We left the cheese farm all full of Gouda and headed straight for Amsterdam. We found parking wasn't that easy to find and ended up parking near the Heineken brewery museum. We went for a wander and figured we'd do a lap of town, get some food, then maybe head for a museum. So we walked for a bit, and got a little lost, but made our way to the centre where there's a big grubby looking palace. We stumbled into the red light district, which, funny as it is at night, is just a bit weird and sad at lunchtime on a Tuesday. We carried on strolling. I remember having a blast in Amsterdam when I went before, but i guess, because me and BK are budgeting to last the summer, we struggled a bit in the city. there just wasn't a lot that we could find to do that would cost nothing. Couple that with the fact that we were paying €3.50 per hour for parking. We decided to head to the museums and managed to find the cheesiest hot dog in all the land (seriously it put the silver road footy Saturday man vs. food hotdogs to shame). When we got near the Van Gogh museum we stopped to watch some street dancers, who were really good. Proper funny guys. And there was a huge pool so we dipped our feet to cool down. The sun was really warm and there was no wind in the city. I managed to save a bumblebee from drowning in the pool by scooping him out of the water. We must have sat there drying the bee out for a good half an hour As we sat with our feet in the pool. We'd gauged that the museums in the vicinity weren't free, so decided to cut our losses and head back to the car. (We left the bee on a flower)
We'd found a Camperstop outside Utrecht in the book so decided to head in that direction next.
