Okay, so we've made it to Bangkok!! Both bags and wallets are still in our possession so we're off to a good start....
The flights were fine, although this being my first time flying with a decent airline, i have to say i was pretty impressed! Free meals, free drinks, blankets, pillows you name it. Our meals were with us in no time and a selection of either chicken of lamb (yes thats right not just a free meal but a choice too!!) We both had the chicken although i ended up eating most of both!! There were loads of films and tele to watch, I watched the fighter, started watching 127 hours after but it made me feel a bit dicky so i turned it off. Joanna was watching nonsense like "Glee", No strings "attached"and "the Kings speech"
Chatted to a guy on the 2nd flight from Dubai to Bangkok, he had 2 more connecting flights after as he was going to New Zealand.................F*** that!!! he was going to work for a year and snowboard in his spare time.
We got a taxi form the airport which cost about BHT 400 and checked in to the wonderous "Vengthai Hotel" (thanks Sarah & Ben) at about 9. The hotel is good......clean and most importantly air conditioned!!
We went for for a wander, sat and had a Singha opposite our Hotel. Some Thai dude serenaded us, he was particlularly fond of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. I got some food off one of the street vendors, some chilli noodles with chicken which was really good, although pretty spicy!! We were pretty done in by then as we didint sleep much during the flights so went back to sleep.
Laid in this morning as we were knackered, despite the uber keen cleaner who must have tried to come in about 3 times.
We got some lunch and Jo braved the street food, i think she had a massaman curry. Two small meals and a bottle of water each was like BHT 80, so around 1.20 in sterling.......pretty cheap!
We went to the Kho Shan Road and checked out some merchandise. Jo got her first "Sexy Lady" from a tuc-tuc driver which made us both giggle. I bought some "same, same but different" Ray Bans and managed to haggle her from 4 to 3 pounds, what a saving!!!
We've booked the train to Chang Mai, although sadly as it is a Buddha bank holiday this coming weekend here the trains were booked up so we couldn't get bunk beds and have to be seated. Thats for Friday night...
Jo is on another computer next to me researching hostels for chang mai. We may move somewhere cheaper in Bangkok too as we need one more night. Don't know what the plan is after that so we'll just see what happens, Maybe i'll give in to the tuc tuc drivers and "go see ping-pong", who knows..........
Love Joe and Jo
