The Boat from Phuket to Phi Phi was about 1 and a half hours. When we arrived at the port in Phuket the boat we were seemingly getting looked quite new and luxurious. However when we came to boarding the boat, we walked straght across this boat to a smaller, more "basic" hidden boat............
The boat journey was nice, it was really sunny and we both sat out on the deck for the most part. we arrived in Phi Phi at about 4.30 we found some accomodation with a pool which was a little expensive (20 Pound a night) but we decided to just spend one night there so we could look for somehting else the next day. The pool was really nice and I (Boy Joe) had a swim at about 6pm. the pool overlooked the Bay and the sunset was pretty amazing. We found a nice mexican place that evening called "Banana Sombrero", which did Chilli!! it was pretty good too. They did huge nachos, burritos and enchiladas as well. the guy in there was really friendly. He had dreads down to his bum which he said he's been growing for 13 years!! (competition Luke) They put the football on so we watched the last day of the premier league season in there.
The next day we found a cheaper but still nice place to stay run by a really friendly family. We basically spent all of our days on the beach. The water was amazing, "Like a warm salty bath" as one northern lads put it. you could go about 50m out and still it was only waist deep and perfectly clear, turquoise sea. You could bob around in it for hours. Phi Phi was much busier than we expected, a bit 18-30 at times but it was good fun and there were plenty of people to amuse us. We received lots of flyers offering us 3 for 1 buckets too!!
We bought a bat and ball which kept us occupied on the beach for hours, Girl Jo got prety handy with a wooden bat, although she did wack herself on the chin once. We did lots of chilling out and read our books and was always happy to see the little lady selling "Dooooonuts, Samoooosaaaa, Chiiicken, pootaaatooo......."
The restaurant opposite our hostel was really good. We had breakfast there almost every morning and ate there in the evening a few times too. Jo enjoyed the continental breakfast, which was massive with lots of fruit. Their Thai and western food was both really good. i had a wicked Calzone pizza in there which was huge and Jo found a good Thai dish with lots of veg to ge her 5 a day!!
Above the "Banana Sombrero" was a rooftop bar. We went there one evening and there were loads of people laying around watching a "sunset movie", which was snatchon a big screen. We stayed there for a couple of hours and had a few drinks, played table tennis and watched people play wii on the big screen.
We booked the boat and some accomodation for our next stop, Koh Lanta....
