We booked a boat and a resort on Koh Lanta while we were on Phi Phi. A Thai women in a tour shop was desperately twisting our arm to get us to go sooner and for longer but we stuck to our guns and decided to book 3 nights on Koh Lanta.
We got another boat, which took us direct to koh lanta with a short minivan trip to our resort. We met some English lads on the boat who had been to the full moon party a week ot two before. They said it was pretty messy (as expected) and Thai Women kept putting their hands in their pockets to rob them, Lol, But they said they had a good night.
Our Resort (in Klong Nin) was really nice, we only paid about 8 pound a night each but we had a big Bungalow, A pool which was really nice and we were just across the road from the Beach. Koh Lanta was really quiet though, there was maybe 10 people staying at our resort and we saw one or two others around but not many. Compared to Phi Phi the sea on Koh Lanta was pretty choppy. There was a guy doing some surfing and a little boy getting continously wiped out trying to go out on a canoe.
We spent most time by the pool and we met some really nice guys from America on our second day. There was an older couple "Larry" (lol) and "Jo", and then a younger couple "Steve" and "Steph". We met them later on the beach and had a couple of beers then went for some dinner. We got on with Steve and Steph really well. Steve had done quite a bit of travelling before and was telling us we should "get weird!" and "Go Soup!" as he loved thai soup. They were moving on to Phi Phi the folowing day, which was a shame.
I was desperately trying to find somewhere to watch the Champions League final as it was on at 2am Thai time. Nowhere seemed to be staying open that late so i'd pretty much given up hope. Luckily though it was on 2 of the 10 channels we had in our room, so i stayed up to watch it, God(....Buddha) bless Thai TV. Shame about the result mind......
One of the days we were by the pool, i went for a swim and was joined by a snake, only a small one but still it made me jump. it just swam by me and out the other side. There was a funny little cat at the resort. It had a full moon party Wristband round it's neck for a collar and half a tail as usual in Thailand (...........Incedentally, we discovered this was due to breeding in Thailand not cos they had been cut-off or run-over by tuc-tucs, or so we were told....). Jo got some funny photos of her sitting on her lap. She kept me company when i was trying to skype home at 11.30 at night in the hotel lobby in the dark, especailly when Mum and Dad forgot about it.
A few of the people staying at the resort hired scooters. Jo saw one girl fall off trying to park, and one girl got quite badly scraped and was bandages up.........we stayed away from the scooters......
We had a Thia Masssaaaaage one evening. It was 250 Baht (5 pound) for an Hour. It was really good, it was a full Body Oil Massage. They cracked all our fingers and toes and bent us in funny positions as well. The little Thai women even lifted us up on their knees and cracked our backs!!
We've dedided to go to "Railay" Next which is just off Krabi so we booked a bus to Krabi and will work out the next bit when we get there.
