That's us been back for almost a week now, and we leave a week tomorrow! I cannot believe how fast time is going here. I think I had forgotten how long the journey up would be, and it is just one straight road, so the four hours seems to take forever! Eventually we got to Otjikondo. I couldn't have asked for a better welcome from the children. The word seemed to spread so quickly that we had finally arrived ( a few days late due to lack of communication with the bus company. We got out of the car and there were a few of our grade ones (now grade two) working outside the Stommels house. A little boy called Arnoldt, said "Hi Miss Jordan!" I couldn't believe that a grade one remembered me! Then the rest of the children ran up to us, giving us many hugs and then a tour of the school. Like we would have forgotten! It was so nice, a very good start to our time at Otjikondo! We also met the new gaps, Ottilie and Chelcie. Both very nice girls and over our time here we have all gotten on very well! Catherine and myself decided that we would share a room whilst at Otjikondo. So we dragged one of the sunbeds into Warthog (my old room) and made a bed for Catherine. Its quite nice sharing, it doesn't get as lonely at night!
I am not sure if I was quite prepared for the early start. Assembly started at quater too seven. Yes that is infact 6:45!!!! I managed it though. It was a short day too because on Fridays school finishes early. Which was good because me and Catherine got a chance to catch up with everyone! Soon enough it was Saturday cleaning, music and church. The weekend flew by. We also played in church and I got to see my three violinists play too! It is my aim this week to do as much as I can with them as possible. That is what I want to get out of this, because I really think that was one of my biggest achievements of last year.
It is now Tuesday night, me and Catherine have to finish the back drop that we started last year, teach music, do some lessons, go to St Michaels, we are also teaching the common wealth song to a group of girls, and a few other bits and bobs. We leave early next wednesday! HELP! So we do not have long.
Anyway, I am going to keep this short and sweet as I am sure I will have plenty more to write when we get back to Windhoek!
Grade two art at seven in the morning tomorrow! Exciting times!
Speak soon,
Love from Namibia
