Arrived in this town at 6am, night bus was alrite as managed to get some sleep and not pay for hostel :-) Didnt have anything booked, so a random hostel had a bus awaiting to shuttle people from the bus stop. This turned out to be fair priced, and the hostel was nice enough so a good choice. First day we headed out in a canoe which the hostel let its guests use for free. The town has a creek running through it which leads out to sea, so we had a paddle around on the river, i went in for a swim and hannah got sun burnt in the canoe. Was saltwater so strange with it being a river, was told no crocs around as too far south, not sure if this is true, but i swam a little anyhow.
Nice walk on a platform through the mangroves which grow out into the creek, and we had a bbq in the evening in park - most parks over here have free electric bbqs which is cool.
Next day i got up early as a group of us went from the hostel down to the harbour and jumped off the jetty into the sea. About a 10 metre drop, but sea is cold in the mornings and this particular day it was windy and cooler temp than normal so my big savaloy shrank to a cocktail sausage. Spent the rest of the day plodding around, went to the shops and generally wondered around.
The 3rd day here we booked a horsre riding trail. The company came and picked us up, drove us just over half an hour to the ranch. As it turned out, only hannah and i had booked so we had a private lesson/trail. Headed off into the forest and went for a trot. After practising the bounce at the right time (hurt the twins a bit getting this right) we developed into a canter which was pretty sweet, alot smoother and some good speed, although had to watch not to hit my head on low branches.
Lasted 2 hours, for the two of us with 1 instructor, it cost around 45pound so bit of a bargain, even if i have lowered my chance of having kids - we got a good price!
For our last night, the hostel conveniently drove pretty much everyone upto a bar. Karaoke night, put my name down but due to a long list i never got called up, at about 11 it changed into a regular club. Good night, had a laugh with people from the hostel so was cool. Next day we went to 'the big banana' Theme park type place, but quite small, built around a banana plantation with the biggest fake banana in australia (what a claim to fame) we watched old fashioned candy being made, like sticks of rock, they had some water slides, an ice rink, couple other things. Got back and headed for the bus to take us on to surfers paradise, couple of hours up the coast.
