After a connecting flight in sydney, we landed in Adelaide to be met by my friend phil who moved out her around a year ago. He drove us back to his house in mannum around 1 1/2 hrs outside adelaide. Once there, he was keen to have a few beers but hannah and i had to sleep for couple hours as nackered from the flights. Wen we awoke in the afternoon we were greeted by phils jack russle 'barney'. He's alot of fun be very energetic. Hollie, phils girlfriend arrived home with pizzas, we had a few drinks and some of there friends turned up. After a few more drinks we all headed down the road to a Jimmy barnes concert, an ozzie rock legend (so we're told) concert was quite good, open air down by the river so nice setting. Got a bis drunked and toddled back to the house for a couple more drinks then a very much needed sleep.
Next day we mooched around the house a bit then headed to phils mum and boyfriends (joe) house for a lunch time bbq. All very friendly and had our first ozzie bbq, first of many! After this we met a couple phil and hollie new, and we all headed to murray bridge for a car burn out contest - about 40 cars take it in turns to wheel spin as much as poss on a shot piece of track, cars judged on most smoke, amount of donuts thrown in, and bonus points for a blow out. Different, but none the less fun evening.
Woke fairly early and went for a swim in their pool with phil leaving hannah and hollie for girl chat. Then went to 'cuddley creek' to feed kangeroos by hand and hold koalas - dream come true. Koalas so soft and fluffy, kangeroos surprisingly plassid and gentle when taking peanuts from palm of your hand. Spent final night at phil and hollies, then met angie (phils mum) again in the morning who kindly drove us into adelaide. Booked into a hostel and wondered around - not that much to do in adelaide city really, more like a big town, even the locals agree.
Spent the following day exploring again, and booked ourselves onto a wine tour.
Jumped on the tour bus at 745am (early start for us) and headed to the barrosa valley to the home of jacobs creek. Had a little intro about its history, then cracked on with the tasting - very nice too. In total we went to 4 wineries and 1 pub for lunch and a beer - water for hannah. Good day out, but felt wasnt much else in adelaide to see or do so booked ourselves on a bus to Melboune for the following evening - once there we could get jobs, rent a house and settle down for 3 months or so.
