Sunday 24th May Preston Day 3
An early, sort of start and we headed north towards Shrewsbury and the promise of a coffee with Jenny.
It was steady and picturesque particularly along the Hope Valley (PS another good if maybe slightly challenging cycle ride) and then around the Shrewsbury by-pass until we hit the road into Shawbury. To my surprise we then saw lots of cyclists, or, to be precise, tri-cyclists, an unusual site in Devon.
Coffee was very welcome and, out of the blue, lunch! A delicious meal of lamb from the Shropshire Hills via Tesco in Medway!!
Then on to Preston, that delightful town in Lancashire where everything is calm and peaceful. As the sign at the golf club reminded me, Beware, there are thieves about in the area!! To late to help us!
We parked the van in the layby below 76 Sharoe Green Lane and sat in the house for a few hours, as one does. Then, on our return, found that a local toe rag had pinched Meryl's cycle! This was not good news to say the least. This meant a consultation with the police and loads of anguish and annoyance.
The drive to the campsite was quiet as we harangued each other silently at the injustice of the event.
