Day 4
Today was the most interesting day yet, left kansas at like 10 for a long straight drive to Colorado. Got my frisbee stuck on the roof of our nice hotel so i left a mark on kansas :). The plains are beautiful in their repetition and simplicity but it gets old fast. We have been avoiding interstates which is really nice in fact at one point in colorado our highway turned into a 1.5 lane gravel road and we ended up driving on random assortments of gravel and assphault through tons of podunk towns... it amazes me how much blank space there is in our country and yet how people congregate in such random areas, in the end it goes to where the almighty dollar is most accesible... kinda sad to me. Anyway it was a nice change of scenary halfway through co when the rockies started rising with the mighty thunderheads above... majestic to say the least. All the colors of the rocks in the mountains are quite beautiful. this kind of scenary is much more up my alley. At a gas station we were warned about slush in an upcoming pass so bryan drove joshs car with me in it (rear wheel drive summer tires bad in that kinda stuff) and bonnie drove t rex. it snowed in the pass with a temp of 37 degrees exactly 60 degrees colder than yesterday. Finished my book, now on to hitchhikers. We got to our really nice KOA at about 630 and reorganized the trailor we were pulling. Josh and I played frisbee... I threw it in to the trout pond. We weant to the young nice guy who kept watch over the place to ask if he had any way of helping us. He grabbed a pool net and tried to reach it but could so he said "desperate times call for desperate measures" and preceeded to take off his shoes and walk (in jeans) waist deep into the freezing pond and got the frisbee... I said sorry, he said "why, I needed a shower anyway." I guess this next part should go under food but it was quite an experience so ill just write it here. We decided to eat trout for dinner, so josh bryan and me took turns on two poles throwing into the super stocked pond. I caught a 15" and 16" they both got 10" and 11" I was kinda proud but then I realized how much I hate killing things... So we cleaned them and cooked them over the grill. Not really appealing to me, it was kinda gross actually but i think that was mainly a combination of my tainted view of the whole process and our fast meager attempt at cooking them. But it was most definitely fun.
Food
