Day 14
So ya today wasn't exactly the greatest day... We were woken up at 5 and left at 6 because the whole everyone sleeping in a one room cabin didnt really work. Left to go to BC. Not really that good of views, kinda looks like the Great Plains. It was freezing cold this morning I was wrapped in a few blankets in the truck. We saw a legit road sign that said "Scenic Route to Alaska." Got to Dawson Creek around noon to see the start of the Alaska Highway. There was a big mile marker 0 in the center of an intersection with big flags and everything. Ate downtown at a little place called Hug-a-mug. There was an Alaska highway museum right next to the mile marker, small but informative. There we met some people that were from Athens and the ladies daughter taught at Monroe Area. They were driving to Fairbanks then the Arctic Circle then back to Geogia some long indirect way. At the museum you could also send video postcards so I sent one to Mom and Dad. This part of the alaska highway is really not scenic. By the time we got to BC it was 75, which felt really hot comparatively. We got to the hotel at 2 and pretty much slept and hung out in our sketchy hotel room (the econo lodge has an econo liquor store but the room isnt that bad) for the rest of the day, I woke up at 8 and josh randomly had some Dominos pizza that tasted pretty gross. So theres my iffy day hopefully this is the least fun I'll have on the trip.
Oh just a side note just to add to the crazy weirdness today, Josh and I are watching Peachtree TV on the basic cable available in Port St. John, British Columbia... there are Braves commercials every break and there's ads for the Georgia Aquarium and atlanta based companies... weird!
I mapped out our full trip:
