Hello, we have finally got to Mcleod Ganj after a little oddysey! The flight to Dharamsala was cancelled (it was raining..a lot) so we had to improvise. The nice airport security man thought our luggage was heavy so helped to lighten our load by taking 20 quid when we weren't looking. Thanks. We then had a bit of a palava getting to various train stations in Delhi to book an overnight sleeper train to Pathankot, Punjab. Absolute luxury! Well, not quite but apparently we were very lucky as we got our own compartment and we were told afterwards that other folk had been on a waiting list for months!!
So, here we are in the temporary residence of HH Dalai Lama. It's a nice little area with amazing mountain views when the sun is shining, though the extended monsoonhas ensured that we only get to the see the sun for a little bit each day... never mind I'm sure we'll find plenty to keep us occupied. We shared a taxi from the station up here with two Italian women, and one of them told us that HH is givnig a couple of public lectures next week, so we are delighted to have been able to book our spot already for 2 days, which of course was a really lucky coincidence.
Met lots of very frienclly people here though did watch a bit of a scrap this morning whilst eating breakfast, funny to watch the buddhist monks reactions - some intervening and others just walking on by talking on their mobiles as if nothing was going on!
Till next time.....
