Well it's our last evening at Dharamsala/McLeod Ganj, and we've had a really great time and will be sorry to go! The rains stopped at last (though we've had a bit more today just for good measure) and we've eaten great food and had one or two kingfishers.... just like back home in blighty!
We have had tea with HH Dalai Lama (along with 1000 other people) for the last two days. He was in very good form, lots of warmth and humour and some amazingly simple words of wisdom coupled with some extremely complex Buddhist metaphysics.....luckily for us most of it was delivered in English, then Tibetan, then Chinese...we had a little FM radio to keep switching around to find the simultaneous broadcast translations, very clever. Space was a premium, and it was amusing to see Americans here to find enlightenment getting shirty if they thought you were in their spot. Dissolve the illusion of self, man!
So, we'll sign out until we get to another city and another internet cafe. We travel to Amritsar tomorrow to see the Golden Temple and possibly the guards ceremony at Wageh, then off to Aggra after that to see the Taj Mahal - that is if it's not flooded..... we'll be keeping a watchful eye on t'internet just in case!
In the meantime you can take a look at our wonderful photographic skills in our photo album inventively entitled Dharamshala. It's our first attempt at uploading pics here, so there's only a few to whet your appetite.... more to come next time.
Till then, love to you all
