Another caking hot day today. As we are waiting for the bus a mackem comes up and chats with me as I'm wearing a Newcastle vest. It's not a particularly friendly chat. We had a tour bus take us to some weird hippie town called 'Nimbin'. The bus stops off at a waterfall on the way which is ok. It would be good if we could get down to the lagoon and have a swim but we can only view it from the top. Then it stopped off at a lovely little town almost in the middle of nowhere called 'Etham'. It has a rail track running through it. It's hard to explain but the buildings are very outbacky. Yeh I think you know what I mean. Nimbin is such a weird place. Its full of anything and everything to do with smoking cannabis. It's such a small town. We are only there for 2 hours but it's enough time. There is not a lot to do there. We have a free BBQ there though which is pretty cool. Some tasty sausages are devoured. Whilst we are walking around the spun out hippie shops something remarkable happens. I walk up to Nele & Sammie and they point out $100 sat on a barrel in the shop entrance. 2 50 buck notes just lying there. So I grab it. It's pretty sweet. We figure someone must have put it there whilst organising their pockets or taking something out their pocket and forgot to pick it back up, probably because they were stoned. The journey to and from Nimbin is so scenic and beautiful. When we get back to Byron Bay we agree that the $100 be spent on a drinking session. The girls spotted the money and insisted they should have a major say in how it's spent. It's my last night with Tom and Nele so it's great to have a party with them before we leave tomorrow. Before we do that we spend a couple of hours down the beach. It's a cool temperature to be down there. The sea is slightly colder than last few days too. The waves are quite big so we have fun in the surf again. The whole time we are at the beach you can hear hundreds of parrots going mental. They were so loud for over 2 hours. When we walked back we noticed loads of them were mating in the trees. No wonder they have been so loud, it's a mass parrot orgy up there. After the meal at the hostel theres a karaoke session on. We watch 2 performances. One of which was 2 lads singing a song I can't remember the name of but it's the funniest karaoke performance I've ever seen. We drink white wine in the hostel in our room then head out to a club called "cheeky monkey". It's a great place where everyone dances on the tables. The dancefloor is basically 3 massive tables to dance on. I don't think I've worn anything other than Newcastle shirts since I've been over here, but it's amazing how many people come up and mention it to me or shake my hand because I'm wearing it. There is another guy in the club wearing a Newcastle top. We stagger back to the hostel at about 1am where we continue to drink with the Swedish guys who are staying in the room. Me and one of the Swedish guys fall asleep on the balcony. There's going to be some sore heads tomorrow!
