Hi Everyone
So I have been here for just over a week. It feels like a life time!!! I have settled in really well with the family and am having a fantastic time.
On the weekend we all went to the cricket club where Lachlan teaches and Harry trains. We all had dinner there as the club was trying something new to raise money. Also me and kids watched The Never Ending Story tucked up under the blankets as it was freezing!!! Just like being in England!!!
Monday was my first venture out by myself and I caught the bus down to the shopping centre where sue works, its only 10 mins down the road but would take about an hour to walk there. It’s called Fountain Gate shopping centre and its a bit like Poole Dolphin centre but a lot cleaner and bigger. The one thing I have noticed about Melbourne is how clean it is there is not one bit of rubbish any where and if you see a bit YOU pick it up. They should try and teach that in England!!! I had a great time walking around the shops for three hours didn't buy anything but it was nice to get out and about by myself.
The weather has been up and down but at the moment it is staying nice. Although I have had to go to bed with a hot water bottle nearly every night - i don't even do that in England!!!! I did my first bit of sunbathing on Tuesday but it was so windy I couldn't stay out for long - and Lucky kept trying to get on the towel with me bless him.
So Wednesday I decided to venture into the City alone - how scary. But it was so easy that I had no problems at all. Sue dropped me off at the Train Station in the morning before work, which is called Narre Warren Train Station and I just asked the customer service guy for a ticket to get to the city and to get around the city once I was there. My ticket cost $12.60 which is about 5 pounds, that was an hours journey to the city, going on all the buses and trams within the city, getting back to Narre Warren and getting a bus back to Sue’s - I can't believe how cheap it is to get around.
As you can see from the photos it is such a beautiful place the Yarra River was so pretty - I could have spent the whole day just walking along the river!! As soon as I got there I went to the tourist information centre to pick up a map of the city, and while I was there picked up about a hundred other leaflets one being a Neighbours tour - Lachlan has banned me from watching it here as he thinks its a load of rubbish!!!!
I then went for a cappachino, sat over looking the Yarra River on Southbank in a little place called BearBrass it has to be the best cappachino I have ever tasted!! Then I thought I must go and have a look around the City as much as I wanted to sit by the river all day. Melbourne City is very easy to get around the streets are just like a grid - however I still managed to get lost looking for a toilet, i just kept walking around in circles it was so funny. I also got asked for directions by two people!!! When one of them asked me I was looking lost myself as I was looking at a map.
Although I didn't do much in the City and just walked around for hours looking lost, I had a fantastic day and I did it all by myself. When I go next time I am going on a boat along the Yarra River, and I have to see the Melbourne Cricket Grounds not that I am a fan but just to say I have seen them!!
I saw my first Parrot in the City and it was amazing but they were to fast for me to take a photo!! They fly around in the palm trees and are well hidden.
Also I am going to a place called Merimbula with Lachlan, Sue and the kids - I can't wait as they will be on holiday as well I think Sue said we are going the first week of November. They showed me some photos of when they have been there in the past and it looks such I fantastic place!!!
Well I think I have updated you with everything and don't forget to have a look at the photos I have added. Thanks for all your messages its nice to here what’s going on back home.
Also Big hugs and lots of kisses to my baby nephew Lloyd who’s 1st Birthday it was on Tuesday.
Take Care Everyone xxxxxx
