Just got back from a jog. Had class this morning from 9-12. Had to take the crazy colectivo/taxi for the FIRST TIME by myself today because my friend Amber was sick. Jogging here is soooo different than in the states. First you must realize that women in general RARELY work out here, let alone someone like me, who stands out A LOT here with my hair color, skin, etc. Also, all the stray dogs that run around, run after you and ATTACK you! I have to literally scare them away and keep jogging as fast as I can! LOL.
Waiting for my host mom to get home from work. She´s a professor at a private Catholic University, teaches Español. She comes home around 1:30-2 every day (M-F) to have lunch and then heads back afterwards and usually gets home around 7 or so. I have no idea what we´re eating today. Every day it´s a surprise and is usually chicken accompanied with something else, along with a salad of course.
One of the girls in our program (Amanda) has a host brother who´s 21. His friend is throwing a BBQ today at 5, so I think some of the other girls and I will be heading over there later.
I have class allllll day tomorrow from 9-6pm with a break from 12-1. I´m really excited because Fri. morning I´m leaving at 9am for SANTIAGO (the capital of Chile.) It´s about a 6 hour drive by car, (8 hours or so by bus.) We´re riding in a few cars. We leave Fri, and come back late Sun. night. We´re heading to the International, world cup qualifier soccer game Chile vs. Brazil. It´s Sun. from 3-6pm. I´m pretty excited and nervous at the same time. Soccer is a HUGE DEAL here! The games can get absolutely CRAZY and you really have to be careful. A couple of the girls who actually have already experienced one have chosen NOT to go to this particular game because they´re worried about how crazy it´s going to be. There´s a total of about 10 of us students who have decided to go.
Hope all is well in MN! Weather here was actually pretty sunny today, a high of maybe 57 or so. El centro was very busy after class with lots of people walking around, enjoying the weather.
chau for now, Jessa :)
