Typing in an internet café right now in CUSCO, PERÚ! Just arrived in Cusco yesterday after a 20 hour bus ride from Lima, Perú. Cusco has a population of about 350,000. Went on a city tour today of Cusco and will be getting up at 6am tomorrow morning, (Fri.) to take a train to Agua Calientes, where the famous MACCHU PICCHU sits. We´ll check into a hostel and spend the day/night touring around Agua Calientes. The plan is to wake up early Sat. morning, (Dec. 6th) and hike up Macchu Picchu. Macchu Picchu sits 7,875 ft. above sea level! They recommend you chew on coca leaves while you hike due to the altitude. Coca leaves are a form of cocaine that help you breathe better at high elevations. They have it in a little candy form here in Perú too. I can´t wait to see Macchu Picchu. It´s one of the 7 wonders of the WORLD, (along with the Great Wall of China.) After Macchu Puicchu, we´re going to backpack our way to Lake Titicaca, which half of it is in Perú and the other half, in Bolivia. From there, we´re taking a bus back to Agua Calientes and getting on another bus for 24 hours to Lima, where we´ll catch our plane back to Santiago, Chile and get on yet ANOTHER bus to return to Concepción, Chile. I can´t believe I´ll be getting on another plane just TWO days from then to head back to Minnesota! This trip has gone by sooooo fast!
We´ll I´m going to get going now and explore some of the nightlife Cusco has to offer! :) ciao for now. xoxoxox.
