Hey guys its been a while since I updated my blog so I thought Id get on with it now. Its currently 15:48 on Thursday afternoon here, works been a bit rubbish (I wont say s*** as Auntie Maureen may read this) this week, daft rule that we cant work in the rain which is a bit poor but onwards and upwards! Last week I called for Charlye and Chloe and some priest was there to give me a protection bracelet (I swung a pick axe into my leg later that day so they aint that fool proof!) Oh yeah and they put tikka on ur fod (forehead) which is like red mulch it does my head in does that stuff but I can hardly say no, can I?
We got rained off so went to the office and watched the fil 'Ghandi' its not a bad film at all..... but it dont half drone on a bit! I got bored half way through so had a 50 rupee bet with Rory on Ghandi's age.... damn him! When we did actually work for part of the week there was alot of lugging sand around and filtering it which was pretty boring, then I decided to take 100kg of cement in a 50kg wheelbarrow (not a good idea) but I did it, not without breaking the wheelbarrow, but I did it none the less :)
Now I have the mohican hair cut the tiffin lady has decided to call me 'chicken boy' which I can deal with but when my host brother hears and decided to promote me to c*** boy' I think words need to be said. I dont have the heart to tell him the English translation though....
Aaah Friday came and off to Kathmandu I went :) Me, Chloe, Gemma and Tombo! Good times! Although when we checked into the hotel the room we were given was full of used plates and blood stained bed sheets! The people who run the hotel are very nice though, brought us room service and seem very excited to have us. We ordered hotel food (which was the first sandwich ive had in over a month and oh lord it was beautiful) as the streets of Kathmandu had turned into rivers as it monsooned down and I got pissed wet through on my way to the hotel. The rain is phenominal, Ive never seen anything like it, then 5 minutes later, literally 5 minutes, its boiling hot again! That night we just stayed in the hotel, didnt bother with a beer as Im having a detox, and just had a laugh, then the day after, after a great sleep we went to explore Kathmandu! The streets are littered with people selling drugs, orniments, jewellry and everything else you can think of! I found 1 man who offered me a hand carved 'thing' (as its for my dad I wont say what it is) but its gorgeous, he wanted 4000 rupees and lets just say thats not what I paid =D. We explored (had KFC obviously) saw some beautiful sights, but also some not so nice ones like children following you in the street begging. Then Tom got speaking to some Nepali dude and he led us off somewhere to his painting studio, and it was a fair distance away in a place that I felt we could of been raped and murdered in. After getting bored of telling all the locals that Chloe was 'my b****' I started telling every1 I was a professional wrestler, and amazingly they believed me, just because I could pick them up!
On Sunday we had our global discussion and it was alright, Rory, Jas, Charlye and Alice J did a great presentation. But apart from that it was pretty boring and we just relaxed, Im getting a bit bored of watching DVDs now though, its not what I came here to do if im honest. We did watch 1 about global warming with Al Gore and that hit home a bit, I didnt realise how much of a serious problem it is.
At work we got our teeth stuck into some real graft this week digging HUGE holes to get HUGE tree trunks out of the ground, the first 1 took 2 days and took 7 of us just to roll it! The second 1 was a bit easier but it dont half give you a feeling of triumph after you have unearthed the beast!
If im honest Im still getting used to the views around here, me and Tom have been doing a bit of exploring round here and going on random walks to places we dont know which is funny as, especially when Kweku came with us t'other day, I cant really post online what happened but hell, Toms comments on the situation were HILARIOUS!
Heard my sister (the daft bint) broke her foot drunk as a skunk, and she has the cheek to call me (Mum, if you're reading this you know who is the worse child!)
Recently found the HP sauce Dad put in my case (THANK YOU!) It makes rice so much better, bit of a shame im running out though! Had to break my door down the other night as I lost my key.... that was pretty fun.... until my shoulder hurt the next day...oops! But life is good here, 6 weeks till im home and dry, changing my English life for the better and getting myself a job (Dad, keep me a space open haha) Anyways Ciao for now! Mucho Loves! Im off for another adventurous walk! Byeeeeeee xx
