Not sure where exactly I'm up to on my blog, but i'll fill you all in on the past week or so. After realising that no one at all wanted to go camping after the fraser island experience (think it was too soon), we decided to cancel the trip and head to Australia zoo instead!! Got up early and caught the free bus from Noosa, which shows a dvd of Steve Irwin's life on the way to the zoo. Bit of a bizarre film, he led a pretty crazy life but it gave you information on some of the crocodiles in the zoo and the story behind how he caught them as well as his life story and all about his family. It was his son Roberts 5th birthday on the day we were heading to the zoo so everything was all about the birthday celebrations.
As you have probably seen from the photos we hired Cat a wheel chair for the day, which amused us all no end, wish we could have kept it for longer!!! After seeing the crocs, tortoises and seeing the tiger taken for a 'walk' around the zoo, we went to get our seats in the disabled section of the crocosium for the croc show!! terri irwin did the show and robert blew out the candles on his birthday cake, it was so sad that his dad couldn't be there, such an awful story, it still really feels like his zoo and he is talked about everywhere you go. Eveen more strangely, santa came out to be chased around the pool by a crocodile to kick of their countdown to christmas! I can't tell you how strange it is to see christmas trees and decorations up here when it is so hot!!!
After that we walked around the zoo to see the rest of the animals, snakes, elephants, kangaroos, koalas, tasmanian devils and wallabies, until about half past 2 when the heat finally hit us and we collapsed on a piece of grass next to the kids show. Don't think any of us could keep awake on the bus home, a totally exhausting day, lots of fun though.
After a very chilled out few days in Noosa, which is absolutely gorgeous, we left to get the bus to Brisbane. Feels great to be in a city again after working our way down through lots of small towns. Had a big night out on wednesday as Chris was leaving us to finish the rest of his trip and fly over to New Zealand, so now there are 5 of us. Saw Australia at the cinema which we all thought was quite fitting for our trip (great film - go and see it!), and think we will go down to the south bank today. To add to the joys of staying in hostels I have had my first experience of bed bugs today and for the 2nd time on our trip have had to wash all my clothes and sppray my backpack down . . . great fun!
Hope everyone is well, seeing all the christmas decorations is really strange and is making me think of you all back home - hope you're all enjoying your white christmas!!!!
