We left Brisbane after 3 days which to be honest wasn't really enough time to see a city as big as that. Me and Cat visited some of her family friends on our last night who cooked us a fab meal at their lovely house and sat around their pool which overlooked the city. Unfortunately, the weather seems to have turned on us since we got to Brisbane and we've had a lot of cloud, a lot of humidity and quite a few thunder storms!!! Thought it was meant to be sunny over here?!
After Brisbane we got the bus down to Surfers Paradise, which seemed to be a bit of a holiday resort town, filled with high rise hotels, fast food chains and theme parks, it certainly didn't feel very australian! But we made the most of it anyway and went to sea world on the 2nd day, saw some cool sharks and dolphins and even a polar bear - definately something I didn't expect to see in the summer in australia! On our last night there we went to look for something called the Q1 tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world (think it was only something like number 20, but was still quite impressive) and supposedly has amazing views at sunset. Didn't quite make it up there for the sunset but there was indeed amazing views from the top, right along the gold coast, there was a cocktail bar at the top which we stayed at for a while and forgot about our budget while ordering cocktails from the bar and watching the lights along the coast. Recovered from our hangovers just in time the next day to catch the bus to Byron Bay.
