The morning was not what stress head drivers wanted to see, pea soup fog, great, I hope the navigator ( the garman) can work better in fog than I.
We leave the villa by 9 under the guidance of the Garman and hope that as we go we are off toward the well known tourist attraction Pisa, and it's learning Tower. The garman perform pretty well and we arrive at Pisa at 11.00, find our parking, we are less than a kilometer to the Tower, take us less than 20 minutes to walk.
While Di, Karen and I were doing this traveling Shirley was snug as a bug in a rug sound asleep. Balty and her had decided to have a break from any driving and have sleep in, 10 .00 a.m, Shirley said she rose, laid around drinking wine ,doing the washing and then went for a drive to Volterra. This I'm told is the most beautiful of all the villages we have seen in the Tuscan area.
Meanwhile our group had found the tower and were in full flight ,taking photos of every angle of the tower we could. It is amazing how this structure can lean so far over, but not fall over. The area which surrounds Pisa is very flat, the city seems to be very cosmopolitan, the only detraction was the constant circling of the sellers.
Where to now, 12.30am, let's go to Lucca, arrived 1.15 needed the bayno (toilet) and a prosecco, this upholds the tradition which Shirley had been setting, that a prosecco should be drunk in ever new village or city we go to.
Lucca is beautiful medieval village set behind a wall that surrounds it.
Inside these walls lies one of the wonders of this Italian country. The buildings where mainly of early A.D Heritage. We found a ristorante with wi-fi so Di and I were able to make contact with our family, check emails and of course the blog.
The food at the ristorante was simple but nice, service funny and friendly and the prosecco had that wow, that's good factor
Karen took her self off to walk on the wall and was gone for about 45 minutes ,when she return she was excited at what she had just achieved. A few more snaps of the historic buildings and another wee stop, mum said always go before you leave, so I do.
Off to the villa we go, 45 minute trip, which lead us to all parts of the Tuscan country side, 2hrs later we arrived home safe and sound and laughing at our road trip experience.
I 'm finally back in wi-fi country so the blog will now be, I hope daily. Thank for all the comments and messages I hope everyone is enjoying it, as I am enjoying this fantasico adventure.
