Flew at 11.30pm and landed at 4am. You buy cheap flights, you get stupid times. 4am should not exist. Same goes for airport cleaners. b******s stopped me from sleeping at the airport. We thought we'd get a few winks as our hostel isn't open till 8.30.
Got the shuttle bus from airport to hostel and the owner showed us the room. Gone for cheapest again so it's an 8 bed dorm here and it's all girls tonight. Bar me , obviously, don't think they're too happy about that! Haven't said a word to us yet! Not that I mind, I've had 3 hrs kip so I'm not feeling the most sociable! Only here for tonight then on to a friendlier place.
While we chilled by the pool (paddling pool) there was an old bloke smoking a bong watching spongebob squarepants outside his room. Think he's a local who lives here. Went for a walk to the beach which is quite nice and now having some food in the city centre. £25 for two meals and a coke each. Not as cheap as Indonesia!
Decided to eat via the Coles supermarket as will be much cheaper. Got back to hostel to find infact there is another lad in our dorm who is quite the pothead also. Infact most here are! Glad were moving tomorrow, would have liked to met some sociable people like me (after more than 3hrs kip).
Spent the night sat in the common room with the other backbackers and one guy who is about 50 has proven to be the most prejudice guy I have ever met. Sorry Dale, the title has slipped.
He doesn't like anyone. At all. Unless they're White and Australian. Doesn't seem to have too much of an issue with the English but everyones else.
One Chinese lad who looks about 10 has only said one word. He was asked if he was"alright mate?" he just said "diorreah". The Aussie who asked didn't get what he was saying so kept asking "eh?". Was quite funny. Think I was the only one who got what he was saying. There's another fella from Stoke on Trent who seems nice. He was pissed as 10 men (Aussie saying) when he got in so not sure what he'll be like sober. He's done a few of the things we have like Borneo etc, so been comparing photos tonight. All his seem to be from zoos though which made me feel abit prouder about what we've done.
Just to completely change the subject, I think we may struggle to last a year here, due to the price of everything, without finding work pretty soon. Apparently it won't be hard but in all honesty I would have liked to travel a bit before having to get work. It would be too risky, financially, though so we will have to make the most of the time we have without a job. I do miss working like, but I bet it would only take a week of hard slog in this ridiculous heat for me to revert back to wanting to slack again! Honestly, it's the hottest place I've been yet and it's still the wet season and cloudy. I'm losing a stone of weight a day from sweating. Probably why our Josh told me to get a proper meal down me after seeing some of the photos. Cheeky b****** he's built like a bean pole!
