It's been an awesome weekend of skiing.
Had a big night out on Thursday night for Lou's Birthday. Hit up Garfinkel's for the first time and then backed up the next day for the Grand Opening of the Peak 2 Peak Gondola. 4.4km in 11 minutes across a 436m deep valley. Did it 3 times! It was trippy. The glass bottom Gondola was awesome, some brave (stupid) guy lay down on it for the ride across. They had music, videos of guys base jumping from the Apex, free hot chocolate. Yum!
Saturday the cold snap hit. it was -11 in the village and -20 up top. Didn't last too long that day. Bailed at about midday in favour of a hot shower. Also had a job interview that afternoon. I now have a second job (well first job seeing as I've actually started working) as a Hostess at the Mountain Club. Check out themountainclub.ca. It's a very chic casual fine dining restaurant / lounge bar in the Village. My Mountain job wont start till near x,as now as we need 30cm more snow before we can even ride to work! So this night job was a godsend.
Tackled the Blackcomb Glacier today, really hardpacked, windblown and the coldest I've ever been but sooo good! WE walked out of bounds to have a look at the Avalanche areas. People actually were making the trek to ski the 1km slope and walk 2km to come out the other end. I cant describe how huge and beautiful the landscape is - epic.
It was a good hard day of riding, i've made friends with a Canadian Snowboarder from Quebec who now lives in Pemberton, given that he was born on a snowboard I have to work to keep up. It's great. A Challenge.
Off to a Bliss N Esso concert tonight in the Village, then working again tomorrow night at the Club. Having a ball, eating well now thanks to this new job (staff meals are awesome), and getting in heaps of riding. I could take up this lifestyle permanently...
