Riding actually.
Tried snow boarding for the first time ever! Thanks to Damo for putting up with my falling over, taking him out and crashing into people off chairs (only once though). It's so counter intuitive to skiiing. Lean back to stop. Starting doing heelside tea leaves down the hill and after stacking it for the first couple of hundred metres made it the rest of the run without stacking. Second run made it down the first half then got wiped out be a fellow snowboarder (i thought they only went for skiers but seems not). Only stacked once coming off the lift because there was so many people in front of me I had nowhere to turn (and I did the run 5 times). But my butt is rather sore so I'm dropping in o a lesson tomorrow to get the hang of toeside. It's scary. And wierd to turn your head in the direction you want to go (another opposite to skiing). Only prob with looking where you want to go is that if you look out for obstacles you end up heading straight towards them!
Not bad for a first day, but tomorrow will be better!
Actually, tomorrow wasnt much better. It's hard and icy and hurts my head when I land on it ( a lot, even with a helmet). I still can get the hang of toe side but can now do heelside turns after a lesson, but when it comes to the toeside turn I just eat it. Not fun. My head hurt so much that after my lesson, I packed up my board, dumped it back at tte rentals and grabbed me skis and headed up Blackcomb to make myself feel better. Like a child who's sick of her toys, and says 'I've had enough I'm going home!' yes i know.
Blackcomb was sooo icy, but a nice change. It's a bit like Thredbo. Just needs more snow!
