Ok, so I'm really bad at keeping up with this blog or even remembering what day it is. So in summary, life was going great, started working 5 nights a week at the Mountain Club, things were getting busier in the lead up to Christmas, riding most days, started work at the Crystal Hut making world famous "fully loaded" waffles on Christmas Day, then on 27th Dec at about 430pm when we were riding down from the Hut after work, I hit a mogul and blew out my knee. That crack was a sound I never wanted to hear again but I somehow managed to side slip / ski down to the flat of the run and get on a snow mobile to the Gondy (unsuccessfully tried to take pictures of the rescue and the rescue dog) before being downloaded on the Gondy with ski patrol and driven to the hospital.
Cried all the way down the Gondy, in the truck and in my wheelchair in triage. Waited ages, in pain, to get moved to a bed, then for the doctor to see me. The laxity in my knee is not a good sign, and the swelling is looking quite impressive now. xrays were all clear so now I just need to see what the verdict is from the orthopaedic surgeon this afternoon. Fingers crossed its just a bad sprain, or not my ACL, but the doctor suspects a 2nd or 3rd degree ACL. NOT COOL! The frustration is worse than the pain now, seeing all this snow falling (constantly now) and not bei ng able to get amongst it, for a while or possibly the rest of the season.
Apologies for the haphazzardness of the Blog, Christmas was spent mainly working and having a 3 course staff dinner at the mountain club. was good to keep uber busy since i wasnt doing the usual thing with family and friends. The staff at the Hut are good fun too, we had drinks at Merlins on Boxing day night which was very amusing. Great team, and my super as going to train me up as lead hand to take over on his days off until I blew my knee. Damnit!
Anyways, off to the Ortho to find out the damage. Wish me luck and keep those fingers crossed its just a sprain.
