So the news was as bad as expecting and my surgeon is fairly certain that I've ruptured my ACL (a partial tear would be very rare). I'm seeing him on Tuesday for dates to have an MRI done and confirm surgery which will most likely be in Vancouver. What a way to welcome 2009!! On crutches and a knee brace. I spent the night on the couch at the 18Below masquerade party taking photos while everyone danced and got progressively drunker. Most sober New Year's I've had in a while that's for sure, but my knee was thankful and I can now see my kneecap again - it disappeared into the swelling for a few days there.
So the highlight of my days now consists of going to physio, otherwise I'm chilling out with my roomies, hanging at a mate's place in Pemberton or watching DVD's from the Library. What quality of life in a ski resort! The whole workers comp thing is going to be a slow process but at least I've only had to pay for my painkillers up front so far - oxy-codene is good stuff!
And it just keeps snowing, so much so that there are avalanche warnings all over the shop. 2 ppl died in 2 days from avalanches, on in bounds, one out of bounds. So things like that help me justify being glad that I'm not up the hill. That and the 30-40min queues during the holiday season.
What else... here's hoping 2009 can only get bigger and better from here cos it's been a pretty crummy start!
