So our first day in Paris was pretty much a write off. We landed in Paris, checked into our hotel and slept for 16hrs to recover from jet lag.
Our second day in Paris was a little more interesting. We ate an awesome breakfast in the hotel, croissant, cake, ham and cereal. Interesting combinations. Packed a day bag and headed for the Tour Eiffel. You think a massive monument would be easy to find, but when all the streets look the same, we had some difficulty. After taking a bunch of photos of the tower we continued onto the Paris sewers. A very cool and smelly tour into the city's underground sewers.
From there it was on to Batobus. A hop-on hop-off shuttle service that covered all the major sights by boat. First stop Notre Dame. That was an amazing sight. Massive with so many gargoyles and intricate carvings.
Next was lunch in a Parisian cafe. Our waiter was hilarious! Our lunch was the cheeseburger and French fries. Yep they still call them French fries even though we are in France.
Back onto the boat and off to the Louvre. We didn't go in, but the outside was nice. Then walking along the Champs Élysées and the high end district we almost had to pay €2 to pee but then found a Maccas. Ahhh good old Maccas. In Paris Heineken is on the menu...
Skipping all the expensive shops we went to the Arc de Triomphe. Too many tourists to go to the top but it was fun to see it from the ground.
Back to the boat and on to the Eiffel Tower again in hopes to get to the top, unfortunately the line was over an hour long so we plan to go back tomorrow early morning to go to the top.
Bon nuit!
