Dragging ourselves out of bed, quick shower, quick breakfast then to the train station. The late nights and early mornings are starting to catch up with us I think. We had a lovely lady at the station ticket office, she explained everything perfectly and was so friendly. So nice. We had an hour to wait for the train so it was to the coffee shop. Our first 'real' coffee in Europe. It was awesome! Wish we had found it sooner.
On to the train, first class!! Wowee batman it was amazing! Plush seats, only 4 to a booth, big window, and powerpoints! Chris was like a kid pressing all the buttons and finding all the gadgets, hidden armrests and tables in our compartment.
Watching the German countryside pass us by we listened the music and relaxed. An hour later we are over the Austrian border and on our way to the heart of Innsbruck. Only another hour later and we were in the heart of the city.
First stop Bergisel ski jump. This gave us an amazing view of the the city and surrounding alps. Very much worth the painstaking climb up with our luggage. A quick 'the hills are alive' photo pose then lunch overlooking Innsbruck and surrounds then it was back down the hill to find the Swarovski Crystalworld.
A short train trip later, we followed the signs to the crystal world. Google said it would only take 20mins. A good half hour later, we finally made it! Going to the ticket office we found out the terrible news that it would take around an hour to go through the entire place and we only had less than 40 mins and we still had to get back to the station. It would have worked if google wasn't wrong. With sad faces we walked away unable to view the inside of the Crystalworld. Maybe next time. At least we got to see the outside and also ride the seated flying fox :)
Back at Innsbruck central station and boarding our train to Zurich. Part one of our long train ride this evening. Luckily we were in first class, bigger lounging space and less people.
Watching the Austrian landscape pass by we recovered from a long day and reminisced that we were only in Munich a few hours ago.
3 and a half hours later we are in Zurich, Switzerland. Thankfully the train was able to make up the 10 min delay so we were able to make our connection to Lucerne.
We sat in the quiet carriage initially, but it was too quiet. You could hear a pin drop! So we quietly scurried out and went upstairs to enjoy the city lights blinking away at us as we made our way to Lucerne.
Tired and weary we found our hotel, right above a busy nightclub, and settled in for the night. Think a sleep in is in order tomorrow.
