Very relaxed day in Negombo waking up to breakfast at the Villa and saying goodbye to Bianca as she plans on moving to the UK. I spent the day by the pool and walking around the main street. I had an early dinner at King Coconut including a spicy calamari dish. It was tasty but saturated in onion and garlic. The view was stunning as my table was next to the beach and I had a perfect view of the sunset. I left dinner to walk along the beach and watch the sunset. I returned back to accommodation and my pre organised Tuktuk driver picked me up from villa and took me to airport. Had to go through security three times before getting onto the plane. It was so good the plane was super quiet. Never seen a plane that empty so I had a whole row to myself so got to lie down and sleep.
Today I had a defining life moment. I have had the most amazing time in Sri Lanka and have taken away so many memorable moments. But tonight after traveling with people constantly it was so nice to have some time going out for dinner and enjoying the stunning views of the sun and the beach. As I walked out I decided to go to the beach to watch the sun. I sat next to a small palm tree admiring the disappearing sun through the palm leaves. To my were small children and women adults. I could have watched them forever (in a non creepy way) the kids were so beautiful coming up to me waving saying hello and then saying goodbye and running away. They kept doing it. I watched the adults jump over string the game was almost the opposite of the limbo. Though we didn't speak hand actions and facial expressions were worth a thousand words. I can't really describe the feeling but it was in that moment something made me so happy and I knew I would treasure that moment forever. After traveling and especially from this trip it reinforces how beautiful life is. It makes me think of life priorities and what makes happiness. Family friends love and kindness the simple things that are taken for granted. It's so easy to lose sight of what really matters but spending time in Sri Lanka inspires me to always try and prioritise those 4 things. To trust and to see the good. What an incredible and beautiful country.
