We spent our last night in Queenstown getting very drunk with our lovely Dutch friend Simone with the help of many free drinks from some kind aussies. We arrived into Queenstown on Friday and checked into our double room (wahoo!). We headed straight to the world famous 'Fergburger cafe' for a huge burger, the best burger we have ever tasted! We took a dip in the hotel hot tub to prepare for our night out that night. Our driver had arranged loads of drinks deals for us in some of the bars which meant we had a very wild first night out. We woke up suprisingly fresh after our lie in and decided to go up the mount...

We arrived at Franz Josef on Tuesday afternoon. Lucy decided to go kayaking with some of the others from the bus on Lake Mapourika, a mirror lake with the mountains reflecting onto the lake (Jess decided to sit this one out as it was described as 'requires decent upper body strength' which she lacks!). The kayak was cold but so worth it, even though Lucy crashed a lot of times, with the leader saying 'Lucy why have you got soil all over the end of your kayak?!'. ...

So, as expected, it was just the two of us plus Josh our driver on the Kiwi bus leaving Taupo. We stopped off in Whakapapa National Park for a lovely 2 hour walk, just the 3 of us in the sunshine with great views of 'Mount Doom' from Lord of the Rings and the ski fields. We then picked up 3 more Dutch girls (woo!) and made the joint decision to skip River Valley and head straight to the capital city, Wellington. Tired from the long journey we had a quiet Thursda...

On Monday, with the O'Ds back at school/uni, we went to Rotorua museum (very cultural!). We somehow ended up in a twenty minute French simulation film and couldn't leave once it had started - only us. We saw the old baths (it took us 40 minutes to realise we were in an old bath house) and went underground to see the old mud pools. Jess got the shock of her life when there was a model of a man in one of the baths haha. That night, continuing with the cultural day...
