From Langkawi arrived by ferry to Luala Peralis, taxied (no other possible way) to Kangar bus station. Bused to Butterworth, and from there ferried to Penang, another Malaysian island. Stayed in China town, that was in and amongst all the hussle of the city. It was still quite a dirty place, but they were making an effort to improve it.
Penang had an entertaining bus station, lots of shouting and people trying organise the buses. It was great to watch, no one seemed to know what they were doing.
Had an interesting train journey up to Penang Hill, 600m high, on a 100 year train. Met lots of retired english people, who all enjoyed telling us how they were cruising around the world, with no buses, imagine that!!, They were all very lovely.
Took a very rememberable tree cannopy walk, up in the rain forest. Very scary they whole thing was tided up with what looked like loose cricking rope. But we must have only been 10 metres high.
Petang had a lovely botonical garden incorporated rainforest, full of cheeky monkeys and spotted another 3ft Lazer Lizard.
