Foolishly decided to travel on the day of the Malaysian election. When all Malaysians travelled to their place of birth to vote. What chaos, we could n't travel direct to the Cameron highlands so we detoured to Ipoh hoping to get a bus from there. A fight broke out on our bus, a man under the influence wouldn't pay and punched the bus conductor. He was dragged off the bus and kicked in the head by a group of men. It was quite gruesome, but this was the first bit of trouble we had seen. Needless to say we bought a ticket.

As we travelled through the hills it was noticeable cooler and dissapointedly huge areas of valley was covered in polythene, where veg's were grown. Later found out only 100 yrs ago the land was occupied by elephants, however as man removed the rainforest to grow veg's the elephants eat them becoming pests so were hunted, now no elephants can be found.

Enjoyed visiting the tea plantations and had a remember able walk through the rainforest.
