So on Thur we took a day trip out to....this is exciting guys....the Grand Canyon!!! Trip was bout 5 hours but not to worry we had a driver that liked to talk, she kept us entertained for about 3 hours of it with endless tales of whatever place we happened to be driving by. Was quite interesting to begin with but she was very repetitive after a while!! Took a stop off at the Hoover Dam to get a picture. Not the most fascinating of places but was amazing to see how huge it was. We got told how many people had died inthe making of it, this was just the beginning of the many death stories our guide had for us!! Took a slightly longer route to the canyon so that we could drive along the famous Route 66. Stopped off at this wicked shop on the way that was more like a museum than a shop. Had like proper old signs, cars, gas pumps etc and inside loads of memorabilia to Route 66 and life back in the day! It was in the middle of absolutely nowhere and there was actually a sign saying desert for 300miles around. Looked like it could have been a horror movie setting. Lonely travellers break down, head to the only house for miles around etc.... As we neared the Grand Canyon our delightful driver decided to start telling us about recent ways people had died there. Apparantly 16 people die there a year and theres a book that gets updated annually telling you all about the deaths. She was very obsessed with this!!! The people that died running over the edge rtrying to chase their hats, or standing near for a picture and gusts of wind blowing them over. We thought it was well good telling us all this BEFORE we go for a walk along the rim. Anyway, we did walk right at the edge anyway (it wasn't that windy a day!) and we are still alive so all good!! Was so surreal the view when we first saw it, the colours of it and the scale was so vast. Took a walk along the south rim stopping several times to ooh and aah a bit more and take more pictures nearish the edge. Very very gorgeous views!!! Reached the Grand Canyon village earlier than we thought so meant we had to fill the time by eating ice cream, nothing new there then. Journey back a lot quicker, less stops, nice to see the dam all lit up at night though. Thought about going to bed as we'd been up so early but our last night in Vegas, we had to hit the town! Went for dinner at an Australian steakhouse (just preparing ourselves for the future) thought we'd splash out and get a cocktail, so much choice, very yummy!! Food was good too despite the fact neither of us actually had a steak! Raced up to the Bellagio afterwards as we hadn't seen the fountain show yet. Just about got there in time and very glad we did. The show was amazing, set to music and was massive, didn't realise how big that fountain was (from seeing it in the film!!) Then we tried to find a club to go to. Tried one place and had a drink there but was more of a male club thanks to the several scantily clad dancers up on the bar. So we headed off to a place called Tangerine within Treasure Island, now isn't that a bizarre sentance to say!! You can guess the theme of the place which also led to my tangerine cocktail, like a frozen drink with a definite kick to it. Jen went for the Strawberry one, didn't seem like cocktails at all but very strong! Had a good old boogie for a bit and made the most of our first big night out in America!! On the way out had to have a gamble to, don't worry we didn't lose too much money, weren't drunk enough to keep going too long!! bed very late and less than 4 hrs till our coach left the next day :)
So in San Francisco now after long journey. So talk to you all soon xxxxxxxxxx
