On wed we decided to add another country to our list and venture down into Mexico-and not just to Tijuana as most people say but further down to a couple of other places too. San Diego was really near the border so didn't take long to get there and fly through, the Mexicans don't seem to care who enters their country really compared to the massive queues going the other way! First stop was Tijuana which was so colourful but we just let some people off and continued down to Rosarito beach. Just how you imagine it with white sand and palm trees and gorgeous blue water that Jen went and dipped her feet in. She removed her shoes to do this and left them at a 'safe' distance while Liz could take a picture. Next thing we know a huge wave is coming towards us and as Liz runs backwards Jen's shoes come happily floating up beside her....continuing our theme of things getting wet lots!!!
Headed next to Ensenada driving past pretty pacific ocean scenery on the way. As soon as we got there lunch was served. In a very nice restaurant not the typical Mexican we were expecting. They gave us sooo much including free margaritas!!! Ate loads and felt fat again (but hey it was included in the fees, would have been rude to refuse). Thought we'd walk it off by doing some shopping. Fun walking round looking at the shops and while people were trying to get us to come look round lots they weren't too persistant unlike later on.... Spent a while here and made a couple of small purchases before heading back up the coast. We actually stopped in Tijuana this time for more shopping opportunites but this time we really were harrassed by the shopkeepers who were yelling at us from across the road, whistling, calling us babe and just walking right in front of us. Between hysterical laughter and growing annoyance we decided to hide instead and went to a cafe for a small chocolate fix to calm our nerves. Getting back took a bit longer, despite having 3x the number of lanes the American are a lot more anal and we all had to get off the bus and troop through security. We were not impressed though by their failure to stamp our passports though, 'they don't do that anymore' but we were there honestly!! Had been a fun day though getting to see a bit of Mexico beyond just Tijuana, def a colourful and vibrant place that made a change from America.
