Days 4-8. Sorry it has been a few days (sorry mom!). I will recap the past few days:
Thursday we went to Allerod to go visit PP Mobler Furniture and Fritz Hansen Furniture. These are two manufactures of some of the most famous furniture designs in the world! PP is owned by a family company, very small premisis, and very skilled craftsmen, as these pieces are mostly made by hand, few machines. Fritz Hansen is a large company and has a premisis similar to Knoll's in East Greenville, PA. Many things are machine made, some are handmade, but everything is of very high quality! I would love to be a craftsman and a university professor. At PP, I would have the opprotunity (if hired) to be given an apprenticeship to learn their high quality line of craft! See the pictures posted for this trip. On the way home, we stopped by a beautiful church, Grundtvigskirken, right down the street from where I am staying to look at the interior and examine a chair that was designed especially for that location.
Friday we visited the Danish School of Architecture to have a lecture and was shown our quarters for the last two weeks of classes. We will be using their wood/metalshop for the actual production of our chairs. We then headed back to school for more lectures. Later that afternoon we had our A+ D social and I fell in love with hotdogs! I was also apprached by a drunk man who had just gotten out of the hospital from a fight (I was told he is a gypsy?) and spoke to me in Danish, I then told him I didn't speak Danish. He then tried French and I almost said yes, then thought better and said no. But as all Danes can, he then spoke English to me. After asking me for money and me telling him no he cursed me and said that I will never bear children....hmm.
Saturday I went for a run and it turned out to be an exploration. I found a beautiful pier and beach to go visit! I also got somewhat lost, but found intersting places! I got home right before the rainstorm, just a sprinkle. See the video I posted on Facebook!
Sunday I went downtown to go visit the design museums and showrooms. Everthing was closed; one store because it was Sunday, the rest because of flood damage! Many places were open for me to gallavant to, but I was hoping to be studius!
Monday, most of the trains were still flooded, so I took a bus in (thankfully a handy Aussie taught me how to locate the bus I needed ;) !). I made it to class just in the nick of time! Most of today was uneventful, except that I staked my claim on my studio space (see picture) and my last lecture of the day... two men gave a lecture on how design is important. One is an architect and the other a product designer. It was like watching James Denton (from Desperate Housewives) and Ed Helms (from The Hangover) doing slapstick. If my professors looked and acted like that I would never nod off and would pay attention to every word they said! (The men are VERY good looking here in Denmark!)
Tomorrow we are off to Fyn and Jylland all day for more feild studies!

Whitney I want to see some JLo shots.... Sounds like you are getting to see lots and meeting some interesting folks. Keep the pictures coming! XOXO
donna Did you tell the gypsy thank you for his "blessing" that you would never have children. You would consider it a curse if he told you that you would have 7 children with a man who already had 5.
