Hello All,
I forget where I left off with what I have told you all, so I'll start with last weekend. I have decided to stop running myself into the ground on the weekends as much as I do during the weeks, so last weekend and this weekend have been a bit more relaxing. Which honestly has been really nice. Plus, both weekends three of my roommates have left (including the two that I share a room with), so our apartment has been nice and quiet.
Last weekend the weather was pretty bad so the only thing I made it out to was the National Gallery. No to say that that wasn't good though, cause it was amazing! It is right in Trafalgar's Square and is where they have most of the city's original art collection. I saw many paintings by Monet, Manet, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, da Vinci, Van Dyck, and many many others.
Kate and Lindsay also arrived last weekend and I went to see them on Monday night. It was really nice to see friends from home. Then on Tuesday Stephanie (Stroud) came through for a couple days on her way home from studying abroad in France. That was absolutely amazing. We just hung out a little bit on Tuesday night, but then on Wednesday we celebrated the 4th of July with traditional tea time (a little ironic), some sightseeing and some amazing Indian food for dinner. Even though I couldn't be at home to celebrate the 4th, having family here more than made up for it.
This weekend so far has been a bit more exciting. For the first time in about three weeks it is sunny and warm which is perfect for the end of Wimbledon and the beginning of the Tour de France. For the first time ever the Tour has gone outside of France's borders. The prolouge time trial was today and I met up with Kate and Lindsay to watch that for a couple hours. The first stage is tomorrow and leaves from Westminster Abbey and goes all the way to Kent on the the English Channel.
The other thing I am hoping to get in this weekend is the Victoria and Albert Museum. I absolutely love that most of the large museums here are free, and I have made it my goal to go as many as possible.
I can't believe how fast this summer is going by. I only have five weeks left of my internship. I would not trade this summer for the world, but I will be so happy to come home!
More pictures are not far away, hopefully on Monday after the rest of the weekend. Love you all, talk to you soon!!
Cheers,
Jen
