Hello hello!
We are coming to the end of our amazing Patagonia adventure and what a couple of weeks it has been! We´re currently in Puerto Madryn having flown in from El Calafate on Sunday.
Having had an awesome time looking at the glaciers down in Calafate on Sat we were up super early (5 30 pick up) for our first trip to Chile! We went across to the Torres del Paine National Park and I have to say it was simply the most b-e-a-u-tiful national park we have ever seen.
It was formed by glaciers millions of years ago so it has really flat plains and then there is the ´Paine Massif´ mountain range (sounds like a chav gang to me) which have peaks at around 3000m high, so it literally goes from sea level straight up to a couple of huge mountains, so dramatic! Then the lakes are a brilliant bright greeny-blue colour! It was stunning!
Anyways we got to Puerto Madryn on Sun and straight out on Mon (6 am pick up this time, who said travelling was easy...?) to see whales, elephant seals and Penguins! On our whale watching boat trip we had loads of ´Southern Right Whales´coming right up to the boat and then right at the end one literally leaped right out of the water, probably only about 20 metres away, even the boat guides were shouting´ÓH MY GOD!´ it was so exciting!
We then went to see the Elephant Seals and they are hilarious! They´re just like MASSIVE slugs! We´re going to try and upload some vids cos theyre so funny to watch! At the end of the tour we went to a beach where we could watch whales swimming only a couple of metres out to sea , amazing! They were everywhere you looked!
Yesterday we went to a Penguin colony of over 1 milliion Magellen Pengiuns and you can walk right around amongst them. You actually have to stop to let them cross the path! We thought they were so cute until some of them went a bit mental. We stood on a bridge for about 20 minutes in hysterics as you saw terrified grown men literally sprinting away from these viscious little things only about 45 cms tall! I was taking a pic of Brad with one in the background and he started running (Brad says he charged like a lion!!!!!) towards Brad´s back with a look of intent!
Anyways...tonight we leave for the ski resort of Bariloche on the overnight bus and I am really really keeping my fingers crossed that the ski season hasn´t finished! I keep getting updates from everyone we meet who has just been there!
Love to all and will be in touch soon! xxx
