Blogfans!!! Your favourite travellers are here in the world's most luxurious McDonalds, yes, it even has candlelit tables and an outside fountain!!!
You may know me by my traditional name, but I have acquired some new ones on our travels, pick one and use it when you see me in March...Brat, Bart, Pratt, Brao, Brian and my personal favourite....Breath. Brilliant.
So what a start to the year 2010 has been, New Years Eve was seen in on a beach party in San Juan Del Sur, and what an absolute blur that was! The extortionate 3 pound bottle of rum was half full at 11pm, it was finished by ten past whilst doing high fives for everyone telling their favourite 2009 memory!
Fully recovered and boosted by some more amazing seafood, we headed further north in Nicaragua to the towns of Granada and Leon, not much to see here folks, so we headed towards Honduras with the recenty military coup at the forefront of our mind ducking down in the bus whenever we saw a shotgun, yes they really are that common out here!
We stopped off en route to the Mayan ruins of Copan in our first official DumpTown, which was San Pedro Sula, if I were ever to go to Baghdad, this place would surely be like it, absolute hellhole, glad to get out of there in one piece!!
The Copan ruins of Honduras were great and our first set of many ruins to come in Central America. No one sane goes on holiday to Honduras so it was virtually empty and a great site to visit!
The service we get in Central is, how do I put this, um, TERRIBLE!!! Honestly, we wait hours and hours for our food to come out!! We also poshing it up these days too, ENOUGH OF THE CHICKEN BUSES!!! These old US yellow school buses come packed with hundreds of smelly locals and we have had enough! Tourist shuttles for us from now on!
Having said that, we had a great welcome to Guatemala yesterday, if seeing a horrific car crash and a terrible melon spill wasnt enough, Jen had the pleasure of having the bus window smash all over her! Thank fully she was bending my ear off at the time and was looking away from the window or else I wouldve been made doctor for the day pulling glass from her face! Lucky escape!
So to today, after a heavy friday night we headed up another volcano today, which is erupting, to poke lava with a stick and toast marshmellows! The glow of the lava when it got dark was amazing!
Three weeks left in Central America before our North America adventure begins, and fear not, the US themepark planning has begun AND theres a NASA space shuttle launch on February 7, so fingers crossed for some fine Florida sunshiiiiine!
Oh yeah,we saw a dog today that had bigger udders than a cow. Just wierd. And wrong.
Till next time blogfans. next time I speak Ill be beyond excitement as we'll almost be out of the third world!! COME ON!!! xxx
