If you're going to go and watch the surfing you may as well do it properly! Ever since we started our travels we said that we wanted to go and watch the surfing but every so called surfing beach has had no surfers-so we thought we'ld go all out and pay a whole 4 pounds to watch the likes of Kelly Slater, Andy Irons and Mike Flannning battle it out to become RipCurl Pro, strutting their stuff down at Bells Beach. What a day! We litterally rubbed shoulders with World famous surfers, if only we'd known who they were before hand. The pictures we have are fantasic-Kat got some great ones of Mr Slater for you. It was amazing as they were just like normal guys, down to earth and wandering through the crowds with their surf boards- their skill on the water was fantastic, 360's spins and allsorts.
It sounds like we're always out and about living the high life but in reality we spent two weeks camping in the bush at Bear Gully where we did little else but chill out, go for the occasional walks and make friends with the wildlife. The second week were the easter holidays so it was loads busier-they really go to town over here for easter. In comparision to the tents with their t.vs and shower cubicles we were the paupers of the campsite-just two two man tents and little else, not even chairs! We were looked after though, everyone took pity on us and lent us things left, right and centre, we even were donated a double matress for our tent-luxury camping at its best. We made friends with a couple of groups of people their which meant that their was a nice community feel and that we had a constant stream of visitors, we had numerous shared meals around the communal campfire, fresh fish caught straight from the sea and hot home-made hot cross buns brought round for us.mmmm.
But now, it's out of the wilderness and into the bright lights of Melbourne and the hunt for a job. Mum will be here in a day or two for a week and we can't ait to see her. If only you could all fly out for a couple of days, ir we could pop back for a cuppa and a good old chat. Whilst she's here we're planning to head along the Great Ocean Road, live it up in a winery, go to the Blue Mountains and go and watch the ballet back at Sydney Opera House and fit in a biggggg hug or two, or three, or maybe four.
After mum's headed back to reality it's time for us to settle down for a month or two, get a job and hopefully a place of our own for a while. Once we've given GT time to recuperate we'll be off again hopefully with a few extra passengers (Phill and Mike-that's you two, if they don't come we'll have to make the long journey all on our own-no pressure you guys) top the middle of Australia to see Aires Rock and the giant Kangeroo's.
Anyway we'll love you and leave you and start the job hunt. Take care. Lots of love. Bridgey and Jo-JO
P.s A few special mentions- Firstly a BIGGGG HAPPY BIRTHDAY ZO. Wish we could be there to celebrate with you, we will be in spirit. Have a fantasic time. We love you lots.
Also a belated happy birthday Paul, thinking of you hun.
And Gemjar Happy Birthday blondie- hope it's a good one-no bruises this time from falling over in the taxi or feeling worse for wear at Alton Towers (how you weren't sick on those rides i'll never know). Have fun. Love and miss you.
Last but by no means least Happy Birthday Phillimon, happy birthday old man (Bridgeys words not mine). Birthday present is.....the company of two lovely ladies (in Australia), who promise to be friends with you even if you do kill possums! haha.
