Here's Craig at the top of the Rock.
Danni - I missed your question: why did we choose these US cities to visit?
I used to be a French and Russian teacher and spent many, many holidays in France and a couple in Russia really to keep my languages up to date. I've also visited most countries in Europe as well as Chile (where we have family) and southern Africa but I've only ever visited Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee in the South of the USA. Craig has only been to a few places in Europe so I really wanted this to be a total tourist trip for us both and I suppose San Fran, LA and NY are among the most popular places to visit in this country.
We haven't been disappointed in our choice: even 4 or 5 days in each place is long enough to see the difference between the west coast (relaxed, friendly but efficient and very, very keen on new technology)) and NY (bustling, hard-edged, always in a rush). It'll be interesting to see how different Tokyo is from Hokkaido (the north island - capital Sapporo).
