With a forecast for good weather we decided to take a short camping trip in the Cotswolds on the last weekend before the boys went back to school. Chose a location within striking distance of Stratford, since Alastair was supposed to be doing rugby training at school on the Saturday morning.
We chose the Camping & Caravanning Club's Winchcombe site, since it had some very positive reviews on their website. Campsite was very clean, spacious and with good facilities.
The boys enjoyed the usual fare of barbecues and cooked breakfasts. After one breakfast Ross disappeared off to feed a few crusts of bread to a couple of ducks we had seen. The next thing I knew he was being pursued across the campsite by a huge group of fiendishly hungry or aggressive ducks, all squawking and quacking.
Was amazed by the sophistication of equipment some of the campers and caravanners had; satellite dishes, TVs, rotary washing lines..... That's not proper camping.....is it?
Anyway a good time was had by all, although the boys preferred the less formal nature of the Wye Valley website we had been to before. They missed the campfires and the absence of rules and regulations.
