I went to my first Braai yesterday. It's a South African bbq. It was next door(the people next door are way cooler than my roommates.ssshhh dont tell anyone i said that) and it was very silly. First off, there were no south african's because every one of us is international. Second, there was a bunch of weird meats that looked like intestine that i did not want to eat. The "braai master" was my German friend named Bodo. His mom calls him six times a day to ask if he is happy. Today at work was much much better because my computer broke! No, jk..but it actually did break for a while and i got to surf the internet while the computer guy came to fix it. but it was a good day because i made a new friend! her name is Yolandi and she is 25 and a designer and the coolest person ever. She has a really really thick accent so when we talk we both have to talk slow so we can understand each other, but other than that we get along really well. which is nice. I feel like I have been here for much much longer than five days. it's crazy! i wanted to go to the gym today after work because everyone else was at the beach or getting scuba certified(apparently their internships let them leave early...) and so i was in a bad mood cuz i felt like my internship was taking over my life and it's been a week and i am yet to go to the beach!! But then I realized that I'm here first and foremost for this ridiculously amazing internship that is really intense but i know will pay off so much in the end..hopefully. My friend Elena and I wanted to ride the mini buses to the gym but we were afraid it would get too dark and then we couldnt ride the mini bus (waaay too sketchy. or "dodgy" as my friend Peter from Germany like to call it) so instead we are going on a walk around Obs. Since I arrived there have been sooooo many more students here. We went out last night to this bar with sand everywhere and half of it is outside. We wanted to watch the fire dancers, but there was like a thirty minute long line at 10 pm and a 14 rand cover charge! (which is actually only 2 dollars, but still).
