Have at last got south of the bad weather. We are on the Belle Ile. This is a lovely island about the size of Guernsey. Sauzon is a picturesque port and we are on mooring trots. The sun was out today and we had a cracking sail from Lorient covering over 22 miles in 3 hours with large 3 metre waves rolling us along. After a leisurely breakfast we went to see the market in Concarneau before setting off for Lorient. Before we had even slipped our lines the rain started and it stayed with us all the way. However, despite fairly light winds we managed to sail all the way into the harbour - a mixture of broad reaching and downwind. Lorient is a very busy harbour with lots of ferries and water buses. On arrival we were asked to 'slot in' to a very snug berth at Lorient Marina.

Another day another rain storm. The weather was forecasted to rain and gust up to gale force 7 so left early for the short trip to Concarneau. Good down wind sail and arrived just as the rain started. Concarneau is a pretty old fishing port with the marina just below the old fort ( see picture). Today it was good enough weather that I wore shorts all day. This is the first day of shorts all trip. Had a cracking down wind sail from St Evette to Benodet. This is where Lucy was working a few years ago and is a beautiful spot. We have been passing lots of classic boats heading north to Brest for the festival of the sea next week.
