Jambo!
Yesaterday Imma showed us around town...firstly he took us to one of the local restaurants to try some of the local food and he showed us how to eat it like proper africans there was some maze mash stuff called 'Ugali' which was a bit like playdoe and you had to roll it up in your hands like a ball and then pick stuff up like the veg, beans and chicken with it and dip it in sauce and then eat it it was yuuuuuummmy!!!!Imma then taught us some more swahili words and to eturn the favour we taught him some english words such as: chav, fit, lush, minging and mint...he appreciated this and has started to call everything 'mint' he also likes Akon what a ledge! also went to the massi markey which mum would love as all the african figures and girraffes and drums etc cost about 50p each so i will definitely be bringing lots of these home.
The locals here call whie people 'Muzungas' and yesterday we were the only Muzungas in town and they enjoyed poking and pointing at us...it was hilarious. We also saw mount meru hospital where we are starting placement on tuesday. We then went back to the house and Wittness cooked us an amazing meal again and we played monopoly and i lost shamelessly and left annie £13 in my will but then she called me a slag and spat on my grave so i gave it to laura and went and had a shower.
TODAY we went to the snake park and our guide told us about a security guard who had a nap and was eaten WHOLE and theres pictures of it and you can see a man shaped lump inside a snake but then the snake tried to escape and got eletricuted by the fence.poor thing. We saw crocodiles and tortoises and then held a snake, i was a bit of a natural if i do say so myself and am considereing becoming a snake charmer.
We were then shown round the Massi tribe museum and there was a clay model of what we thought was a woman giving birth but was actually a woman being CIRCUMCISED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(A massi tribe tradition) they have a party afterwoods. Im glad im a Muzunga.
And then we rode on camel and i thought i was going to fall to my death as mine kept kicking the one behind and wasnt concentrating and we only had little metal bars to hold onto and they wee so talllllll!!!!!!!!!
We got driven home by our taxi driver john after waking him up as he was asleep in the carpark and we drove through all the villages. When we got home it was reallly sunny so we walked o the local hotel to use the pool and nearly got hit by a dala dala (bus) on the way. The pool is amazing so we ae planning many more trips.
Really doesnt feel like we are on a nursing placement but we are due to start on tuesday so im sure reality will hit then...maybe.
Leave me a comment you horrible muzungas or i wont bother writing this blog again.
