Last night in Montrose after another great day. Woke up to rain and decided to have just a leisurely morning. Sat around the table in the conservatory till nearly 11 am, then headed off to find lunch, in the pouring rain. We headed up the coast towards Aberdeen and stopped at a charming little fishing village called Stonehaven. Still pouring but it didnt stop this intrepid photographer from braving the elements and takin a few shots. After a lovely lunch we headed off to Aberdeen where we made a fairly quick trip around the city, the port, the old quarter and King's College university area. Lots of very old substantial buildings from an obviously affluent age.
We drove home then through torrential rain, which I found quite hair-raising, sitting in the back clenching my knuckles. When we got to the turn off to our quiet country road back to Montrose we struck flooding with raging torrents pouring off the farm land. Water on the roads at least 6 inches deep, it was quite exciting. We made it back okay, but must say I was quite nervouse.
Innes and Jill (Jim & Susans son and daughter in law) and two children Bethany and Campbell all came in for dinner and a very pleasant evening was spent, capped off with a choice of at least 6 different types of whiskey. I abstained, but I was assured it was only the best single malt.
Off to bed shortly - even though it is a dull evening (not raining now) it is still very light at 10.30 pm - it will be light again at 2.30 am, but we are able to sleep better now.
Alll for now,
