Tuesday
Had a leisurely breakfast down in the basement, lots of tables and not much space between and most people had to wait for a table. Breakfast perfectly adequate – continental with all the trimmings.
We were not too sure what we were going to do today, but opted for the hop on hop off bus. This proved to be a bit of a pain as the roads were so busy throughout the city that we could have walked faster at times. We got off at the Tower of London and did the Thames cruise down to Westminster. Got off there and walked through the crowds past Westminster etc. Lots going on with wall to wall paparazzi on ladders, poking their lenses through the railings etc. Tents set up outside new Scotland Yard with hundreds of TV cameras etc. All to do with the continuing scandal of the phone tapping which is taking up all the TV and papers.
We finally got back to our hotel about 3.30, had a quick wash and change and off on the tube to Tottenham Court road where we had a beer and an early dinner and then off to see ‘We Will Rock You’.
The music was fantastic and we really enjoyed the show. It was a really different sort of play – written by Ben Elton, (The Young Ones; Blackadder etc) which was a clue to the fact that it would be a bit different.
Home by 10.50 after changing tubes once, so getting the hang of it again.
Tired now so off to bed.
