J: Amazing breakfast choice, figs, fruit, yogurt, muesli, fresh juices, lovely breads to toast ourselves.Sat looking down at the beach and the beautiful sparkling bay in the sun.
Taxi to the ferry for the 40 min trip across to Auckland. Two deck boat that charges through the waves - no respect for the sea!
Met my SU colleague Andy Banks who is Schools Director here. Lovely to see him before he and is family head back to England for a month. It's almost the end of the school year in NZ so the It's Your Move! book for the children moving up to secondary school is being given out now. SU NZ almost has their own version ready for next year.
Went to the SU office and chatted to Andy's two colleagues. One, Paul did 6 months here with Action Abroad but is now back to stay.
Andy took us up to Eden Rock where the photo view was taken. 360 degree view of Auckland and some of the islands. There's a wheel showing the direction and distance to places all over the world from that point. Apparently Auckland is one of the cities with the largest area - it takes 2.5 hours to drive from one side to the other. It's soon to become a super city with the 7 neighbourhoods as one.
Lunch in the sun - factor 30 struggling to last the day. 12 mins is the burning time. Everyone slaps it on before dressing.
Let Andy go to finish his packing and walked up Queen Street, the main shopping area. Bought a little jade ring. Spent a while in a photo gallery - the chap takes amazing pics of the Americas Cup yachts. Might invest in a print when we're back in a couple of weeks. Will be going out on one of the yachts then. Also investigated the Rugby World Cup 2011 shop.
It's great having meals in the evening that we haven't had to choose - always a delicious surprise. Just 5 couples staying here fills the Boatshed. Met a honeymoon couple - the girl lived in Bicester! Married at Blenheim Palace - lovely.
Boatshed Mini Moke day tomorrow with picnic/wine. Sigh....
